Robin Hapelt & Christian Ohlendorf

Robin Hapelt and Christian Ohlendorf met while studying product design in Cologne. Common projects provided a solid basis for their constructive cooperation. So it was quite logical, that in 2011 both took the decision to start a design studio together. The company “SchoeneHeileWelt designstudio“ was born. Why precisely this name? “The term ‘Schöne Heile Welt‘ (‘Beautiful unspoilt world‘) can be interpreted in a number of ways: positively, negatively or ironically. We have chosen the name knowing that our work won’t be appreciated positively at all times. We critically examine our work as well as its objectives.”

The two young designers do not perceive themselves as artists. For Hapelt and Ohlendorf design serves primarily as a service that allows them to meet the requirements of customers and target groups. “Nevertheless, we devote ourselves passionately to design. Designing products with heart and soul does not only imply to contribute everything for the best result possible, but also to approach the design with a twinkle in the eye, facing it with a touch of humor and creating unconventional ways when it comes to implementing.” This view is undeniably reflected in their designs, just as the lounge chair BARON proves impressively.
